If CBD and skin care aren’t yet synonymous, just wait. CBD skin care benefits run the gamut, and it’s a more powerful antioxidant than vitamins C and E, two skin care product mainstays. New CBD-infused skin care products are hitting the shelves almost daily, and they’re proving themselves to be more than hope in a jar. CBD oil benefits for skin include great versatility.
CBD skin care products are available in virtually every form, including creams, serums and oils. Besides its use in topical products, CBD helps boost skin health when consumed internally, too. When shopping for CBD skin care products, look for those containing full-spectrum CBD with zero THC.
Oily Skin and CBD
If your skin is oily, odds are that combating breakouts tops your list of skin care concerns. CBD boasts strong anti-inflammatory properties, so it can reduce or eliminate pimples and blackheads. It also aids in clearing up eczema and rosacea, two more skin problems related to inflammation. While studies are limited, CBD may reduce the skin’s oil production, resulting in less acne and redness. CBD applied to active blemishes not only helps to make them disappear more quickly but may prevent scarring.
Dry Skin and CBD
Dry skin is often itchy skin, and here CBD can really help. According to a study appearing in the July, 2017 edition of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, CBD proves especially effective in treating pruritus, or itchy skin. Along with vitamins, CBD contains essential fatty acids to moisturize and plump up your complexion. Since most commercial CBD skin care products contain additional oils for moisturizing, your dry skin will doubly benefit.
Combination Skin and CBD
Many of us have combination skin, with an oily “T-zone”–the nose, chin and forehead–prone to oiliness while the rest of the face is dry. Finding the best products for combination skin isn’t always easy, but CBD can help. CBD topicals reduce oil in the affected areas, while moisturizing the dry sections.
Sensitive Skin and CBD
If your skin is particularly sensitive, CBD can come to your rescue. Topical CBD can soothe sensitive skin, and it might help prevent the triggers leading to rashes and other disorders common to this skin type.
Anti-Aging and CBD
Because CBD contains powerful antioxidants, it’s a natural in the battle against lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging. Use a CBD cream or serum nightly to fight the free radicals that damage skin and cause premature wrinkling. Not only should you notice lines and wrinkles diminishing, but CBD should also improve your overall skin tone, making it appear brighter and more youthful. As we age, the body produces less collagen, the protein making up most of the body’s connective tissues, including the skin. CBD slows collagen loss, which slows line and wrinkle development.
One of the best ways to prevent wrinkling is limiting sun exposure. A tan makes you look good temporarily, but it damages your skin over the long term. While CBD can’t replace a sunscreen–which you should wear 7/365, even in winter–it can help repair damage caused by sunburns. If you stay out in the sun too long and get burned, slather CBD oil on the exposed areas. It will relieve the itching and pain and help protect your epidermis.
